During treatment, a light beam penetrates the sub-dermal skin layer and is absorbed by the melanin pigment in the hair follicle. The energy is powerful enough to denaturize the hair follicle and inhibit future hair growth, yet gentle enough to leave the surrounding tissue unharmed.
No, Laser should not hurt! Some clients say it's a little uncomfortable, at most you may feel a flick or snap sensation but it should never painful. If a client feels discomfort, we simply ask that you notify your technician during treatment, so they can lower the joules (energy). The tip of the handpiece is a sapphire cooling tip, that cools down to -8*C, this ensures that only the hair follicle gets heated & not the surrounding tissue.
Everyone is different. But generally it can take 6-12 treatments. Keeping in mind that the darker & thicker the hair the better the results. If your hair growth is darker than your skin tone, than you are a candidate. Please note that Gray, Blonde & sometimes Red hair do not have enough melanin in the hair follicle for the laser to read.
